BY Martyn Lawrence Bullard

Always fascinating, the pierced lanterns of Africa are mesmerizing with the beautiful patterns they throw upon the walls and ceilings they hang within. During the 1930s and '40s, Tangier, then known for its decadent and bold culture in the nightlife scene, is where modern interpretations of these lanterns illuminated the walls. The Tangier is a perfect example of this combination of ancient and modern, where tradition flirts perfectly with the design of the future.
